What Happens at a Tuesday Night Meeting? The first hour, 7:00-8:00 p.m., is Large Group and involves the entire group of 15-30 for an activity. The second hour, 8:00-9:00 is Small Group and each is facilitated by a Teen and Adult Staff. Small Group has a "culture of honesty," and participants are encouraged to speak about anything they want. The meeting ends with the Closing, when everyone comes back together at the meeting's end. Tuesday Night Topics.

Roundtrip Transportation Between CCOS and MahometCCOS and the Mahomet Area Youth Club (MAYC) have a great arrangement so that any Mahomet teen can attend the Tuesday Night meeting. MAYC's van leaves MAYC at, approximately, 6:30 every Tuesday Night. To ride the bus, call Mary Vita, Bryan or Marcius at MAYC and let them know: 586-6323.

At Tuesday Night Meetings:
  1. Teens find support not solutions.
  2. Teens receive no counseling treatment, but those receiving counseling elsewhere can attend.
  3. Tobacco is not allowed in any form.
  4. CCOS must call the Champaign Police if illegal drugs or alcohol are found.
  5. CCOS staff are mandated reporters in the reporting of physical and/or sexual abuse.
What's The Point? OP SNOWBALL Helps Develop Four Skills:
  1. Self-Awareness
  2. Self-Expression
  3. Responsible Decision Making
  4. Teen helping teen peer leadership

Norms CCOS Tuesday Night meetings follow the "Norms." The Norms are very important because they allow us to meet together in a respectful way. In order to feel respected, we need to work together which only happens if we all follow the Norms.

Small Group Teens are assigned a Small Group which are faciliated by Teen and Adult Staff. All Staff go through months of Staff Training to be skilled enough to facilitate a Smalll Group where teens get to know each other in meaningful ways. The Small Group is the heart of the OP SNOWBALL experience.

Partipants Say . . . . "For the first time I'm not afraid to show feelings."
"I've met many others and learned that there are caring people."
"It showed me people care and that I'm worth more than I sometimes admit."
""We don't like drama. We're just incapable of not having it.""
"I had a lot of fun without getting high."

Teen Staff Teens who have attended at least one Retreat succesfully and who want to accept some genuine responsibility can apply to become Teen Staff. Prior to each Retreat Teen and new Adult Staff go through Staff Training to become skilled enough to facilitate a CCOS Small Group. If you want to learn to understand and help others, Teen Staff Training is the place to be.
